"quod differtur, non aufertur"
do you stare into space
searching yet for the face
of God in remembrance
of oaths still unspoken
before masses in morning
beyond bell towers of doom?
does Plato extol in Heaven
bravery upon souls
as yours though surrender
to silence too temporal
offered ear to whispers
inside doctrinaire fervor
by reverential reason?
do you see chaste nude engagement
in androgynous beam
at last where loyalty
brings witness to freedom
by humble modesty
for such must the transcendence
live above papal matter?
there utopia reminiscence
comes calmly to bliss you
with visions of vows held
as sacrament proper
between husbands and wives
liberated by promise
of holy grace uncovered.
i pray for your soul, sir thomas
but more for the cruel ones
who call truth "Treasonous!"
for false testimony
carries lethal weapons
to curt courts beside bad beds
to rest mortal cowardice.
