TATTOOING
"Treat your new tattoo as you would any small wound. Most importantly, do not smoother it with salve or tight clothing."
GENERAL HEALING INSTRUCTIONS
1. Bandage should stay on for at least one hour or until tattoo is done bleeding. Check periodically so to wipe off excess blood.
If tattooed late at night, wear bandage until morning.
2. Slowly peel the dressing off the tattoo. Gently rinse the tattoo with cool water and blot dry with a clean soft towel.
3. Apply emollient, using tiny amount, 4 times per day, blotting excess. Each individual heals differently and has different reactions to different creams and oils. *
4. Keep tattoo fresh and open to the air. Do not bandage unless necessary to keep tattoo clean.
5. For the first week, avoid swimming or soaking in water. Before showering, cover with proper ointment, then gently pat dry afterward.
6. For the first month, avoid too much exposure to the sun.
7. Do not pick or scratch scabs.
8. Itching is relieved by lightly slapping or dabbing alcohol on tattoo.
9. Wear clean, loose-fitting, cotton clothing while tattoo is healing or, if you are so fortunate, go naked.
10. Do not apply astringents, alcohol, peroxide, or any healing agents that will dry or fade your tattoo.
11. Use Common Sense
* In my many years of tattooing experience, only one customer has exhibited an allergic reaction to an ointment (in his case, the ointment used was
Neo-sporin®). Should any problem arise, such as excessive itching, use a salve you have had success with
before.
